World of: Fire
by Harry Leonard

She wondered how much time was left before the world began to crumble. Was it days, hours or weeks? Lael looked up to the sun. It had sunk a little further. There weren't weeks left, she thought. Probably not any more than a couple of days.
But did she need to hurry?
Where was that baron person? Lael needed someone to have a discussion with and so far that day, he was the only one who listened to her, and the only other person who, for whatever reason, knew the truth.
Lael headed for her marble bench.
And there was that baron person. He was naked.
"Good day," she said to him.
           "Day good," he said.
"I was hoping to find you."
           "I know."
Lael was still a little disturbed by his apparent omniscience, but she was getting used to it. "I have a question," she said.
"No," baron replied, glancing around the park. He blinked. "You don't need to rush around to tell everyone. They'll find out soon enough. You did good, though."
"Thank you." He had answered her question, and now she wasn't sure what to say. A new question came readily to mind. "Why are you naked?"
"Because it's a day lovely. The sun is shining. The sky is clear. And I'm going to pick up women." He smiled. "Don't I look like an object sex?"
"It's funny you should say that," said Lael. "I just met a woman who..."
"I know. Here she comes." baron pointed back down the path.
Lael followed his line of sight and saw the lady who'd given her a hard time, and she was accompanied by two women officers. "Oh, joy. Just what I need."
baron patted her shoulder gently. "Relax. It's just what I want."
It didn't take long for the approaching women to reach the naked pair on the bench.
"There she is officer. I demand you arrest her," said the woman, paying baron no mind.
"On what charge?" asked the first officer.
           "Indecency."
"What indecency?" asked the second. "She's naked."
"But she's giving men the impression that we women are just bodies. Not people."
           "She is?" asked the first.
"Yes!" The woman went to her pointy-elbow mode.
The second officer pointed at baron. "What about him?"
Lael continued to sit there quietly, not quite knowing what was going on. Lael read the badges of the officers. The first was Johnson; the second Masters.
The woman asked, "What about him?"
"Is he giving the impression that all men are sex objects?" asked Johnson.
           "No."
Masters asked, "How is she different?"
"She just is. Are you two going to arrest her or not?"
