A tallish tree in shaded glen
made very little sound, but then
a groan, a crack, and a heavy limb
gave way to stronger wind.
And down it came and down it fell
quite loudly as I beheld.
And down the heavy limb did drop
with little clue that it might stop
when in a rush the cracking stilled,
its need to fall for now fulfilled.
Now again in silence does the tallish tree
stand proud, defying gravity.
